David Beardmore

Commercial Director, The Open Data Institute

David leads the commercial, business development and marketing activities for the Open Data Institute. His 20 years in data-driven insight and marketing have seen him work with many leading brands in multiple sectors and countries. In addition to working for some of the largest players in the data world such as Experian, Callcredit and Telefonica, David also ran his own boutique data insight business, Thinkdata, for 5 years before its acquisition by Bertelsmann.

The Open Data Institute has been instrumental in developing Open Banking in the UK, working with Her Majesty’s Treasury and setting up the Open Banking Working Group in September 2015 to explore how an open data infrastructure could help the UK government achieve its objectives of increased competition and consumer choice. David regularly speaks on Open Banking at conferences in the UK and internationally, has recently co-authored a report on Open Banking with PwC, and was also interviewed on BBC TV on the day it officially launched in the UK.

The ODI continues to advise on the development and implementation of open banking in other countries including Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and
Canada. In addition to leading on Open Banking for the ODI, David is also helping other industry sectors develop similar open data initiatives including sport & physical activity, utilities and pharmaceuticals.

Originally a classically trained musician, David has a Master’s from Cambridge University and an MBA in Marketing. Ever the optimist, he continues to hold a
season ticket at Nottingham Forest Football Club.

Andrew Berry

Director at Deloitte

 

Director at Deloitte Andrew is a Director in Deloitte’s Risk Advisory business, and specialises in the exploitation of data and analytics in Financial Services

Andrew is a Director in Deloitte’s Risk Advisory business, and specialises in the exploitation of data and analytics in Financial Services. He has over 20 years experience in industry leading data teams for a global bank, as FS lead for the world’s leading analytics provider, and most recently advising Tier 1 Banking clients across Europe. Andrew advises on data strategy definition and data transformation initiatives, and has delivered many projects delivering business outcomes using cognitive automation, AI, machine learning and Advanced Analytics. Andrew was recently appointed as Deloitte’s “Future of Risk & Compliance” leader, helping clients identify the opportunities and threats associated with nextgen disruptive technologies, and deliver enhanced operating models and capability
improvement.

Bharat Bhushan

CTO for Banking and Financial Markets at IBM

 

Bharat Bhushan is the CTO for Banking and Financial Markets at IBM. He drives innovation with his clients to support creation of new platforms, revenue streams and achieve operational efficiency using digital technologies. Bharat is currently working with clients to implement and exploit OpenBanking and PSD2, application
of data science and artificial intelligence for improving customer experience and investment research, blockchain for new operating and trust models etc. Some of his conference presentations and papers are available on his LinkedIn profile.

Bharat has an MBA from Warwick University and an MSc in Advanced Computing from King’s College London. He has 24 years of experience in the IT Industry delivering solutions.

Yvone Dunn

Partner at Pinsent Masons

Yvonne is a Partner in international law firm Pinsent Masons. She leads the financial services technology practice and advises on outsourcing, systems development and integration, e-commerce and IT procurement. Yvonne also leads the FinTech practice and advises on projects which combine technology and the regulatory environment in which the firm’s financial services clients operate. She leads several of our relationships with major banking and insurance clients and regularly speaks and writes on TMT and outsourcing issues specific to the financial services sector.

Daniel Gusev

Managing Partner, Gauss Ventures

Daniel Gusev is Managing Partner of Gauss Ventures – a European-US fintech fund – as well as a seasoned entrepreneur in financial services innovation space, starting and chairing several successful labs and design-driven project offices in leading banks in CEE, Europe and the UK since 2009. He contributed to several accelerators in the UK, Hong Kong and New Zealand as well as fintech lecture program for Imperial College London.

His track record includes: set-up Digital Space VC with early investment in Tandem, Revolut and Albert; Advisor at Visa CEMEA 2017-2019, helping to launch regional fintech innovation track, Member of Advisor Council at Meniga PFM platform; Advisor for a Ant Financial joint-venture.

He has also contributed in various founder and executive roles to 3 startups and had experienced the joy of 1 exit. Daniel graduated from Moscow State University with a degree in History and did postgraduate studies in Banking with Financial University. He is fluent in Russian and English and conversational in Spanish and German.

Jon Hammant

Managing Director in Accenture

Jon is currently a Managing Director in Accenture running Enterprise Transformation: DevOps for UK & Ireland. He also runs the Accenture DevOps platform globally which provides Development and Platform services for 20,000+ internal users and a large number of external users. He has a role of business, technical and strategic leadership of the DevOps group within Accenture. Via his leadership of the group he’s helped grow Accenture to the largest DevOps consultancy in UK/I – above an 11% share.

He provides a key client facing role as a principle consultant/lead setting out large scale IT strategy and leading large-scale teams directing their future direction. Prior to Accenture he’s run Cloud & DevOps for another consultancy. Before consulting he’s been in IT delivery in FS – including Head of Financial Markets and Standard Chartered, DevOps/Platform Services at Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs and Low Latency at Deutsche Bank and the London Stock Exchange.

Kent Mackenzie

Partner at Deloitte

Kent is a Partner in Deloitte’s UK practice where he leads Risk Advisory’s Fintech and RegTech practice.  Having spent the last 15 years directly in both industry roles and as an advisor Kent has developed a deep understanding of data and analytics, ‘disruptive’ technology and the role that Fintech and RegTech is playing in changing the landscape.

Over the last 4 years specifically Kent has led the development of Fintech ecosystems in the UK, Middle East and Europe and has worked closely with Banks, Governments and Regulators advising on both the impact disruptive technology has on the industry, and the opportunity it creates.  Kent also specialises in helping our clients understand the impact of Open Banking and the move to a more democratised, yet controlled leverage of personal data and how this can be combined with new emerging technologies to drive competitive advantage.

Alongside his work directly with large FS clients, Kent also engages closely with emerging Fintechs to design and build new solutions that can address pressures in the market, or shift the dial in terms of customer service and intuitive interaction.  Many of the solutions designed by Kent and his team now featured across our Banking clients.

Ruth Milligan

Head of Financial Services and Payments at techUK

Ruth is an expert in payments systems and financial services technologies, with 12 years expertise at EU and UK level. She is a qualified UK solicitor, specialising in
competition law, payments and retail financial services. She is currently Head of Financial Services and Payments at techUK, the trade association which represents the technologies sector. She takes the lead on all issues relating to payments, open banking and PSD2, insurance, financial inclusion, digital identity and block chain, sitting on Open Banking Working groups and the Payments Strategy Forum groups. She also chairs the Open Banking Communications Forum. Previously, Ruth worked as Legal Expert on payments for the retail sector in Brussels, advising on competition issues, the evolution of the Interchange Fee Regulation and PSD2 and representing retail on the ECB’s Euro Retail Payments Board and the SEPA Card Standardisation Group.

Faith Reynolds

Independent consumer finance expert

Faith is an independent consumer finance expert. She acts as the Independent Consumer Representative on the Open Banking Implementation Entity Steering Group and authored the widely-read report: Open Banking: A Consumer Perspective and Consumer Priorities for Open Banking. Faith is a member of the Financial Services Consumer Panel at the FCA where she is the lead for technology and innovation. Faith is a non-executive director for the Current Account Switch Service. This year she was named as one of the Standout 35 on Innovate Finance’s Women In Fintech Powerlist.

Previously, Faith was on HMT’s Financial Inclusion Taskforce and established Toynbee Hall’s financial inclusion work in the heart of London’s East End. She was awarded the Clore Social Leadership Fellowship in 2010.

Kevin Telford

Advisor to ThoughtWorks and a number of FS brands

Kevin is an innovative, curious award winning business change Strategy Director and Advisor with specialist skills in Smart (Big) Data, Analytics, Intelligence, Digital and Technology solutions. Currently engaged as an advisor to ThoughtWorks and a number of FS brands creating, designing, building mutual value propositions. Deploying techniques, methods to create the optimal tech, people, smart data solutions enabling fast innovation across multiple brands and new entrants.

He is the owner of a company with an advisory value proposition for post PSD2, XS2A, GDPR centred on Open (Life) Banking innovation. Building new business models, harnessing the personal data economy for innovation centred on mutual value for customer and brands. Kevin is a growth advisor, investor to start-ups and co-founder of a new financial well being proposition built on a tech platform, new market place and revolutionary business model to deliver fairer financial services.
In the past he has held senior roles largely centred on data at the heart for many sectors and world leading companies. Kevin is passionate about data and making it useful under the banner of trust, transparency and personal control.
