Founded in 2018, FDATA represents firms that enable consumers and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to improve their financial wellbeing through technology-based products and services. Collectively, our members provide more than 100 million Americans with access to vital financial services and products, either directly or through partnerships with supervised financial institutions. Despite differing business models, all FDATA members share one core principle: empowering customers to permission access to their own financial data held by financial service providers.

Leadership Team

Steve Boms
Executive Director
Steve Boms, Executive Director of FDATA, has two decades of experience working inside government, public and private companies, trade organizations, and the technology industry. He assists organizations as they engage with policymakers in Washington, across the country, and around the world. Steve has spent his career focused on complex financial services public policy issues, having worked in the United States Congress on the committee with jurisdiction over banking. He has led global advocacy efforts and public policy teams for equity options exchanges, large U.S.-based financial institutions, and leading fintech firms. A recognized expert on the intersection of financial technology and public policy, Steve has testified before the United States Senate, the Senate of Canada, and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development on financial services and technology. He is also a frequent panelist and media commentator on technology, financial services, and regulatory issues.

Richard Prior
Head of Operations
Richard has a 30-year career spanning international relations, consulting, and academia, with deep expertise in fintech, regulatory frameworks, and market landscape research. As former Director of International and Platform Policy at Kabbage Inc. and a strategic advisor to the U.K.’s Smart Data Foundry, he is a passionate advocate for data sharing’s inherent capacity to deliver economic empowerment and social good in financial services and other sectors. Richard has helped deliver policy campaigns in Europe, LATAM, and Australasia, with additional advisory engagement in Southeast Asia, Africa and the Middle East. As Head of Operations, he supports FDATA advancement of consumer-centric regulation and the adoption of consumer data rights to foster competition, innovation, and better financial outcomes while giving its members a strong collective voice with policymakers and regulators.

Christine Day
CTO & CIO, Questrade
Christine is the Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer at Questrade Financial Group, where she has helped transform the company from a start-up into one of Canada’s fastest-growing and top-ranked online brokerages. An award-winning fintech leader recognized among Canada’s Most Powerful Women and the Top 100 Women in Fintech, Christine is known for driving digital transformation, regulatory innovation, and inclusive leadership. She led the regulatory change that enabled Canada’s first robo-advisory platform and continues to champion innovation across fintech, AI, and open banking. A passionate mentor for women in STEM, Christine also serves on multiple boards and frequently speaks on technology, leadership, and the future of finance.

Dominique Samson
COO, Flinks
Dominique is Chief Operating Officer at Flinks, a Montreal-based embedded finance enabler with hundreds of clients and product suite spanning financial data aggregation, account-to-account payments and API management for financial institutions. In his role, Dominique ensures cross-functional operational excellence throughout the company.
Dominique holds degrees in law and computer science. Prior to his fintech career, he was a commissioned officer in the Canadian Armed Forces and a fraud investigator for the United Nations. He served on several industry boards and committees, including the board of Fintechs Canada and the Technological Innovation Advisory Committee of Quebec’s financial markets watchdog, the AMF (Autorité des Marchés Financiers).

Karim Nanji
CEO, Inverite Insights Inc.
Karim Nanji is a fintech executive with more than 25 years of experience leading technology-driven solutions that expand access to financial services for underbanked and credit-challenged consumers. As CEO of Inverite Insights Inc., he has guided the company’s evolution into a Canadian pioneer in real-time bank connectivity, risk intelligence, and identity verification tools.
Prior to Inverite, Mr. Nanji held senior leadership roles at Progressa, TIO Networks Corp. (acquired by PayPal), and Custom House (acquired by Western Union Business Solutions), where he was instrumental in scaling operations and delivering innovative financial products. He is recognized for advancing open banking practices that balance innovation, consumer protection, and financial inclusion.
Mr. Nanji holds an MBA in Management of Technology from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of British Columbia.

Danielle Aviles Krueger
Head of Policy, Plaid
Danielle Aviles Krueger is the Head of Policy at Plaid, where she leads engagement with regulators, lawmakers, and other key stakeholders. In this role, she helps policymakers understand Plaid’s technology, which enables secure connections between millions of consumers and their preferred financial applications. She also provides expertise on tools that support identity verification, fraud prevention, and cash flow underwriting.
Before joining Plaid, Danielle was Head of U.S. Government Relations and Public Affairs at Klarna, and previously led federal policy at Lyft. She spent nearly a decade on Capitol Hill working for House Majority Leader and Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer, most recently as Deputy Floor Director. A first-generation college graduate from Texas A&M University, Danielle is also a proud mom of two young girls.

- Technical Standards Working Group – Engages with policymakers and standard-setting bodies on secure, API-based data access.
- Data Aggregator Working Group – Focuses on technical and operational issues facing aggregators and their partners, including API connectivity and implementation.
- Liability Working Group – Examines liability allocation proposals and advocates for fair, balanced frameworks that protect consumers and support innovation.
- Legal Working Group – Provides analysis on litigation, regulatory authority, and statutory frameworks shaping consumer data rights.
- Communications Committee – Shapes public-facing advocacy, press releases, and campaigns.
- Membership & Engagement Committee – Focuses on recruitment, onboarding, and member value.
Biweekly All-Member Calls – FDATA hosts standing biweekly calls open to all members. These sessions provide updates on regulatory developments, upcoming advocacy priorities, and opportunities for collaboration across committees.
